Yonah Mountain in White County, GA is an iconic landmark.  Legend has it that a young Cherokee maiden named Nacoochee fell in love with a rival Chickasaw brave named Sautee.  They ran away to the top of Yonah Mountain, but later were tracked down by Nacoochee's father, Chief Wahoo.  Enraged, the Chief ordered the young brave to be thrown to his death from the cliffs.  The distraught maiden flung herself after him.  This area is one of my favorite places to paint.
